The Lowdown

There aren’t many movies that can scare the pants off this horror-nut but •REC comes pretty close, especially in it’s final ten minutes (more on that later…). At a time when found footage movies had become slightly tired, •REC came along and send a jolt of shakey-cam terror right back into the genre.

The film follows a TV reporter and her cameraman who cover the night shift at a local fire station. When they receive a call from an old lady trapped in her house they head on over to what the fuss is about only to discover something VERY nasty is happening in the apartment block. To delve any deeper into the events that transpire once the terror kicks in would be too spoilerific for anybody who hasn’t had the (dis)pleasure of seeing the movie. Suffice to say you may not sleep very well for a while.

Most gruesome scene?

It has to be the ‘reveal’ towards the end of the film where the tension has become palpable and just when you think it can’t get any more creepy SOMETHING appears and it isn’t pleasant…
