There is no denying that legendary film-maker and director James Cameron knows how to bust some blocks at the box-office while pushing the boundaries of technology with his films visuals. The original AVATAR movie went on to become the highest grossing film of all time (upon release), surpassing his own movie TITANIC and now the star of that film, Kate Winslet, has signed on to appear in the AVATAR sequels.
As reported be Deadline Winslet’s character will be called ‘Ronal’ but it is not yet clear how many of the four sequels she will be starring in. So, the move sees the British actress go from starring in one of the highest grossing movies of all time to potentially another! In a statement, Cameron had the following to say about the reunion, “Kate and I have been looking for something to do together for 20 years, since our collaboration on Titanic, which was one of the most rewarding of my career. I can’t wait to see her bring the character of Ronal to life.”
The first two sequels went into production last week with the estimated budget for all four films a whopping 1 billion dollars (Show Me The Movies! tries it’s best to not do a Dr. Evil impression at this point…). The original AVATAR movie was a visual feast in 3D cinemas so we’re intrigued to see just where the sequels will take the world of Pandora and how Winslet’s character will fit in. Cameron also teased when talking to THR that he may re-release the first movie as a way of setting up the sequels, “That’s a great idea. Any chance I get to re-release my films so that people can see them on the big screen, the way they are meant to be seen … I’ll never say no. We can remaster the film, we can do high dynamic range, things like that, so we can punch it up.”
