Excitement levels here at Show Me The Movies! are simmering around at a padawan learner sort of level with news of the Han Solo standalone movie’s title finally being revealed. Is there really anybody other than Harrison Ford who should be playing everyone’s favourite space smuggler?
We don’t think so, but that doesn’t mean we’re still not intrigued to see how the movie finally turns out after the firing (or leaving by mutual consent etc etc) of Phil Lord and Chris Miller and the hiring of Richie Cun-ing-ham himself, Ron Howard to steady the ship. Howard took to Twitter to reveal the new title – SOLO: STAR WARS STORY.
Ron Howard is certainly a dependable director to take the reigns on SOLO but shouldn’t the standalone movies strive for something more than being helmed by a safe pair of hands? Disney and Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy have their vision for the franchise but the first standalone film, ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY was fairly average other than one kick-ass Vader scene at the end that was added in re-shoots. What do you think, are we being slightly harsh on the movie or will it turn out OK? Comment below!
