Director Gareth Evans burst onto the action movie scene in some style (and brutal violence) with 2011 flick THE RAID. The movie, and arguably it’s sequel, 2014s THE RAID 2, are modern examples of genre films that found new and inventive ways to break boundaries (and bones) in the action world.

It now appears that Evans is moving onto slightly larger scale studio movies with the news breaking that he is set to direct DEATHSTROKE, a character who became one of Batman’s deadliest villains. Joe Manganiello, who rose to fame in vampire series TRUE BLOOD is set to star as the titular character and we’re intrigued to see what Evans can bring to the film and if the studio will allow him to make it as violent as he would like!
