Yesterday saw a whole load of tent-pole blockbusting trailers unleashed during SuperBowl LII and one teaser that is undoubtedly getting a mixed reception is the one for SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY. The film stars Alden Ehrenreich as everyone’s favourite space smuggler Han Solo, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian and is directed (well, around 80% of it) by Ron Howard. Disney have now released the full trailer plus a few nice looking posters for the movie. Let’s check out the trailer first:

Now, our view here at SMTM! towers is that no-body should be playing Han Solo other than Harrison Ford himself. Why you ask? Why be so pedantic and picky as surely Alden Ehrenreich has the wit, charm and chops to bring a young Solo to life? Well, it seems like the answer to that question is no. Sure, the movie LOOKS great but if you throw a ton of cash at a production this big the least you expect is for the movie to be visually dazzling. However, it is the cast overall and the fact that no-one can fill Harrison Ford’s shoes without it feeling slightly akward that has us concerned about the film. That is also went through a troubled production and three directors probably doesn’t help but who knows, perhaps the finished product will prove it was worth the trouble. We’re not convinced…Have a look at the official synopsis plus the new posters below:

“Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy.
