We can’t help but feel a tinge of sadness that the last time we may ever hear an original STAR WARS score from the legendary composer John Williams will probably be on STAR WARS: EPISODE IX – REYLO STRIKES BACK (that subtitle may be false dear readers but by all means JJ Abrams, go with it!…).

However folks, it looks like Mr Williams has decided that the closing chapter of the main film franchise timeline could be his last. In an interview with KUSC he had the following to say:

“We know J.J. Abrams is preparing one now that I will hopefully do next year for him. I look forward it. It will round out a series of nine, that will be quite enough for me.”

Say it ain’t so John or like Darth Vader would probably say – “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO”! Realistically though at the ripe old age of 86 we can’t expect Mr Williams to score the STAR WARS franchise forever can we? With Rian Johnson’s planned new trilogy and also the recent news that the GAME OF THRONES showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are also prepping their own entries (full of naked Twi’leks and Rancors ripping Jedi heads off, probably) the chance will likely fall to other composers to place their stamp on the franchise. Hans Zimmer maybe? Strike back below Sith lords!
